FAQ
What is the difference (if any) between commercially available grass-fed collagen and PB Leiner's certified grass-fed collagen?
PB Leiner is the first and only company bringing a grass-fed collagen ingredient to the market that is certified by an external certification body.
- Our certified grass-fed collagen has strict definitions and protocols, with a dedicated raw material collection channel and production run. The process is audited by a third party, LIAF Control, a member of the American Grass-fed Association.
- Other grass-fed claims are not regulated by external certification bodies, and most of the products in the market lack a clear definition, a strong supply chain and the means to deliver to their promises.
Is certified grass-fed better, and how does it compare in terms of health benefits?
The health benefits of certified grass-fed and regular grass-fed are the same. However, consumers tend to perceive grass-fed products as being of higher quality and more desirable for their well-being. For example, 28% of European consumers automatically associate grass-fed with 'natural' and 'clean label'.
Is certified SOLUGEL® grass-fed collagen 100% grass-fed?
- The cattle used in our production are 100% grass-fed. The animals are raised outdoors on pasture or range 365 days a year, with free access to fresh grass, air, land, and water. The cattle are free-range, spending their entire lives on grass and pasture. Confinement for feeding purposes is prohibited unless weather conditions pose risks to the animals.
- The animals have been grazing on fresh grasses all their lives since weaning. While stored forages and homemade plant-based silages are allowed, they are kept to a minimum and are only present in the later stages of the cattle’s lives. Industrial balanced feeds are not permitted.
